So I know it's been like a week or so since I posted. Maybe longer. I'm still here, still booking sessions. I have just been mainly consumed by a group/team project for my Business Communication class. We have to have a 20 or so "page"/slide powerpoint presentation, as well as orally present what's on the slides. It's due this Thursday, and someone in our group decided we should include a video. So we had to get that done, and for a while we were stuck at 11 slides, and I had no idea how we were going to make it to 20 slides, but yesterday we met and got a lot of work done, and we're at 18 slides, w/ 3 slides to add, one of those 3 counts as 2 (the video). I really think now we have a great presentation. Add Comment I just wanted to send out a little "warning" about the Bakery at Kroger on North Street. Amy ordered a cake like Tuesday and scheduled to pick it up Friday around 3. Well around 4 we went up there. We stood there for 13 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. There were 2 workers there, one of which(Amanda) had walked by us several times, and purposely avoided eye contact. Then another worker Irene made eye contact w/ me but wouldn't acknowledge us until Amy finally walked off to go get a manager. Also, they called Amy an hour before we were supposed to pick up the cake to tell her they couldn't make a cake to her specifications. When we got the cake, there was supposed to be strawberries all over the top, but they were only around the edge. Thankfully they willingly fixed that for free. Now the girl that took our order on Tuesday, Chinwe, was great, very sweet, very helpful. But Amanda and Irene were far from helpful. This was not my order, or a visit for myself, I'm just passing word along. We did speak w/ a manager, Shad who seemed to already know about this problem, but wasn't over the Bakery department and couldn't do much to control the situation, so the guy who does manage the bakery is supposed to call Amy this coming week. Amy has no choice but to go to Kroger b/c she's legally blind and can't drive to Wal-Mart, and Kroger is closest. For the next 2 weeks I'm offering $60 off your hourly session fee on ANY package. Normally session fee's are $90 an hour, but will now be only $30 an hour. You can choose from any package already on the website and FB page, or you can contact me for a custom built package, it doesn't matter! The package can be big or small. Did you miss senior pictures? Personal prom pictures? It's not too late. I will still take any style session. Family, event, doesn't matter. Any session, any package, for only $30 an hour. This is an amazing deal. The promotion runs from today, June 6, to Sunday June 19. You have to book one of those days. So I told ya'll I was going home for the week, which is ending earlier than planned b/c of when I rescheduled my job. "Home" (where my parents live, not where I was born or raised) is 5 hours from Nacogdoches in Stephenville, Texas. Yesterday my parents and I went to Weatherford to go to Fuzzy's Taco Shop. Meant to publish this a week and a half ago, but here's the pictures from Fuzzy's Taco Shop in Weatherford. So Friday at 5:51 pm I go check my mailbox expecting nothing important or good, well I was kind of wrong. I had received a letter saying they've cancelled my financial aid for the summer, again... it's Friday after 5:00pm there's NOTHING I can do at that point. And classes start Monday. So I'm nervously trying to get through this weekend so I can get up early tomorrow and go up there and hopefully have my aid back before my class starts at 10:15. See the problem is my GPA is below a 2.0. Why is it so low? B/c in Fall 2006 when I was at SFA previously I was very immature and a terrible student and decided that instead of go to class, study, or do ANY work, I just wanted to party and hang out w/ my friends. So I failed 15 hours worth of classes and it left me w/ a 0.0 GPA. Now I've been back since Fall 2010, and in TWO semesters I've managed to bring my GPA up to a 1.481, I really believe that after I take (and pass) these two classes this summer: Business Communication for Summer 1, and Communication Law for Summer 2, I'll have a 2.0, be off probation and will get financial aid and the dean off my back. Now a lot of people my age wouldn't admit to this, but I am willing to admit to this b/c I want my customers/readers to know I'm very much not some perfect, super professional photographer. I'm just an average, struggling person, trying to make a career and a living out of something I have a passion for. So I met w/ the RelyLocal-Lufkin/Nacogdoches marketing/advertising lady on Friday. Loved hearing her ideas and suggestions, definitely excited to work w/ her for some local advertising of my business. She definitely helped me think of some ways to branch out my services. Never really considered offering corporate/event (other than wedding) photography, well not seriously at least. Once my listing goes live, we'll be offering a free consultation coupon, for any sessions. Family, wedding, bridals, etc. Mainly wedding related pictures involve consultations, but I do also like to meet w/ my clients if they have a specific image and look in mind that they can't describe and I immediately understand, that way they can bring an example and I can plan accordingly. And then we'll be offering a business coupon, for any new businesses that sign up w/ RelyLocal we'll offer a 30 minute photo session w/ up to 3 digital images emailed to the business for free, but they either have to let me put my watermark on it, or visibly give me credit. |
